By using the Kashima Coat, we have reduced friction on the master cylinder piston by 13% for a lighter and smoother lever action.

We have years of experience working with the Miyaki Company’s Kashima Coat. Since 2020, our elite-level trials and motorcycle suspension components, sold under the name Tech Suspension, have all used the Kashima Coat. Now we are introducing the finish on our most powerful mountain bike brake, the Cura 4.

The finish might be new, but the Cura 4’s performance is well proven. From everyday trail riding to downhill race tracks and burly freeride missions, the four-piston calipers offer stacks of usable power and heaps of modulation.

To fine-tune the brake feel, this premium edition comes with our two-piece lever fitted as standard and sintered brake pads installed, plus a set of organic pads in the box. These upgraded levers come with tool-free reach adjustment and our unique feeling control system, allowing you to dial in how progressive or linear you want your brakes to be. The sintered pads offer maximum braking performance, while the organic pads offer quiet, easy setup.

To complement the brakes, we have added a Japanese Gold anodized finish option to our two-piece discs. These are available in 203, 180 and 160 mm.

The brakes are not limited edition, but they will be in very limited supply.

Key Features
• Kashima Coat finish on caliper and master cylinder body
• Four 18 mm thermoplastic pistons with low roll-back seals
• Two-piece lever with feeling control system & tool-free reach adjustment
• Sintered pads fitted; organic pads included in the box
• Pairs with new Japanese Gold anodized two-piece rotors (203 / 180 / 160 mm)
• Compatible with all our monolithic rotors and two-piece rotors

Proven Performance
The Cura 4 Kashima uses four 18 mm thermoplastic pistons sliding on low roll-back seals, for huge stopping force while keeping the lever feel light, smooth and consistent on long, steep descents.

Kashima Coat
Kashima Coat is a proprietary hard-anodized finish developed and applied exclusively by the Miyaki Company in Japan. The benefits of the gold-like finish are enhanced lubrication and a harder-wearing surface, which means reduced friction, smoother performance and a longer lifespan. This is why these brakes are so much more expensive than the regular Cura 4 - each brake has to be shipped to Japan to be anodized in-house by the Miyaki company.

Two-Piece Lever
The Cura 4 Kashima uses our high-end two-piece lever. Machined from aluminium, the two-piece lever adds another layer of comfort, adjustability and control.

Tool-Free Reach Adjustment
The tool-free reach adjustment dial does exactly what it says, allowing the lever's reach to be adjusted without the need for tools.
• Turn the dial clockwise to move the lever further away from the bars.
• Turn the dial anti-clockwise to move the lever closer to the bars.

Feeling Control System
The feeling control system adjusts the level of modulation. Turn the dial to one extreme for immediate, responsive power. Turn it the other way for a more manageable feel. The dial can be adjusted on the move, allowing you to find a balance to suit your trails and conditions.
• Turn the dial clockwise for more progressive power.
• Turn the dial anti-clockwise for more linear feel.
